THE EMERALD Brothers U13 teams have led their competition all season and fittingly they met at Marist last fortnight for the major semi-final in their age group.

The Marist College oval was resplendent in the Brothers blue and white colours with a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters.

With the outfield a bit dewy, play was delayed for half an hour.

Brothers White won the toss and sent Blue in to bat.

There was some tight bowling by White which saw Blue at 4/22 and in some trouble.

A middle order comeback helped though with Marshall Bean (23), Archie Matheson (19 n.o), Tamati Matheson (22) and Angus Crawford (15) all stepping up with the bat.

Great bowling by Sid McCullagh (3/12) and two run outs also involving McCullagh saw Blue all out for 128 in the twenty-third over.

Solid batting all around by Whites saw only two wickets fall.

Sid McCullagh carried his good form with the ball through to his batting to top score on 28 n.o. Eddy Atkinson (24 n.o), Callum Ryan (16 n.o) and Eddie McCullagh (15 n.o).

All White’s batters did their job and Whites reached their target in the twenty-third over to advance their team to the grand final on March 27 at Marist.

Blues have another chance to gain a spot in the grand final and have a re-match with Whites.

They will host Clermont Gold this Saturday back at Marist, so good luck to the Blues.
