Emerald gymnastics swings into gear

The Emerald Gymnastics club hosted its first competition for the year recently.

THE first 2021 competition of the season for Emerald Gymnastics acrobats at CQ Challenge One was held at Gladstone Gymnastics on Sunday March 14 was a huge success with all seven groups qualifying for state championships.  

Level one pair: Layla Garner and Skye Mackay. 

Level one trio: Piper Taft, Shajarah Phillips and Georgia Mick. 

Level two pair: Evie Cook and Matiya Rix. 

Level two trio: Ava Firth, Tavenor Stewart and Mia Kavanagh. 

Level three pair: Bailee Kemp and Matilda Lewis. 

All level one: Three groups received a high achievement award. 

Stage two pair: Taylah Kemp and Anneliese Grasser – were awarded commended/ 

Stage two trio: Anname Van Der Merwe, Tayla Graham and Ashlee McDonell achieved the highest award of the day with a highly commended. 

Groups are required to achieve the qualifying score to be eligible to attend state championships. 

Level one to three require a minimum 50 points, out of a possible 60, over their two routines.  

All five Emerald groups achieved above the minimum score. 

The stage two score requirement is 42.5 combined over their two routines.  

Both stage two groups exceeded this score.
