IT WAS wins all around last weekend for Emerald Brothers Cricket Club, starting with the three youngest teams – U11 Navy, Blue and White all winning their respective games.

Over in U13s, Blues came away winners in a close, friendly game with U13 Whites.

Both U16 teams Blue and White also secured a win.

Brothers Seniors travelled to Springsure for round 11 of the Barton Shield.

Captain Cameron Keene won the toss and chose to bat.

Despite the early loss of opener James Fitzpatrick at 1/7, openers Liam Farley (56) and Keene (172) took control of the Brothers innings with the next wicket not falling until the score had reached 240.

Brothers ended their innings on 6/273.

Brothers may have felt comfortable with this solid total and then having the Springsure Ringers at 4/78.

Lachlan Ferry was to put pay to that confidence though, where on his home ground, he blasted 100 off 38 balls, finally falling at 122.

He was ably supported by Jackson Taylor (47).

Brothers opening bowler Lachlan Fenton was the one to finally make the breakthrough, snaring both Ferry and Taylor’s wickets and ending the day on 4 for 36 off his 7 overs.

With just three preliminary rounds remaining in the comp, the points ladder for the Barton Shield is poised at Brothers on top with 46 points.

The next three spots remain close with Clermont Bulls on 35, Blackwater Bilbies 34 and Springsure Ringers 25.

This Saturday sees Brothers host Emerald Magpies at Emerald Showgrounds, Capella will travel to Rolleston and Clermont will host Springsure at Clermont Sportsground.
