A hole in one for golfers this week

By Peter Bailey SEVENTEEN players teed off in the Sporters Club competition, Wednesday April 14. The winner, a repeat winner in fact, was the great clubman Noel Rogers with 23 points. Runner up on 21 points was Gary Deacon on a count back from Shaun Parter and Pete Bailey. Pinshot on 10 won by Shane Simpson, 12 by Pete Bailey, 15 by Steve Woodall and 17 by Keith McDonell. Of Keith’s last four tee shots on this hole, one went in and the other three landed near the pin. On Saturday, 30 members and welcome visitors teed off in round six of the Farm and Construction Products Saturday series proudly sponsored by Jason and Jenna Mihill. Winner of Division One was Mark Frousheger and runner up Steve Woodall. Winner of Division Two was Tom Conway and runner up Geoff Wills - all very worthy and popular winners. On Sunday the Volkswagen Scramble Regional Final was held at the Capricornia Golf Resort. The Emerald team consisted of Darcy Hagan, Ryley Parter, Matt Victorsen, Ryan Aspinall and Tim Eversham, who played well but won no prize this year. On Sunday, 44 members and welcomed visitors played a single stableford. The winner with 43 points was Darren 'Barney' Franke. Runner up was Matt Youd on 41 points after a brilliant four under par 66. Second runner up was Shane Simpson on 40 points. Darren also won the pro pin on hole 15. This Saturday is round seven of the Farm and Construction Products series. On Sunday, the Annual General Meeting is commencing at 8.30am followed by the April monthly medal proudly sponsored by Roy Druwitt.
