Heart of Australia brings specialist services to rural communities on three custom-designed clinics-on-wheels.

The HEART 1 truck, a Kenworth K200 Prime Mover, is equipped with private clinic rooms, a testing room, a reception area, wheelchair access and, of course, air-conditioning.

The Executive Manager of Heart of Australia, Veronica Jakobsen, said Heart of Australia brings much needed specialist medical services to rural and remote communities who otherwise would not have regular access to cardiology specialists.

“We deliver our services on-board customised and specially designed mobile medical trucks that are equipped with all the medical gear to perform both consults as well as extensive testing of patients,” Veronica said.

“Heart of Australia has our big trucks, HEART 1 & HEART 2, as well as our mini truck HEART 3.

“We have two new trucks joining our fleet in 2021 that will be called HEART 4 and HEART 5.

“Although we started as a Cardiology service in 2014, we have since expanded our services and now offer many added specialities, including Gynaecology, Endocrinology, Psychology, Gastroenterology, and Neurology.

“It is important that our rural cousins know about our services, so they know there is help and an alternative to traveling to a major city.
