Gemfields fight back

‘We’re not a third world camp or starving Queenslanders’
Angry Gemfields residents have accused the ABC of damaging and misrepresenting them in ABC News and other interviews, which were unbalanced and biased.
They claim that Capricornia ABC repeatedly broadcast incomplete and unbalanced comments by CQ University researcher, Lisa Caffery, which was also published in a magazine and in a website, ‘Healthy and Sustainable Rural, Regional and Remote Communities’.
Rubyvale Friendly Grocer store owner, Andrea Shawmarsh, said that ‘unlike untrue comments broadcast on the ABC, the Gemfields does in fact have electricity, running water and septic systems’.
