A NUMBER of vehicles have been broken into in Emerald and two vehicles were stolen from private residences.

Several unlocked vehicles were broken into in the northern side of town after the offenders attempted to open the doors and then searched for cash and other small items of value, Emerald Police Station’s Senior Sergeant Peter McFarlane said.

“This week we also had two vehicles stolen from private residences.

“Both of these vehicles had the keys left in them.

“As a result of investigations both vehicles have been recovered and one juvenile has been dealt with under the Juvenile Justices Act.

“Another juvenile will be appearing in court charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

“We would like to remind people to ensure they lock their vehicles whenever they are unattended.

“Also leaving valuables and cash in your vehicles only encourages these offenders to continue their behaviour,” Snr Sgt McFarlane warned.
