Art competition highlights Indigenous artists
ABORIGINAL and Torres Strait Islander artists living in the Central Highlands region are being encouraged to enter the Regional Council's latest competition.
Open to artists of all ages, The Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) Indigenous Polo Shirt Design Competition will give creative minds the opportunity to win $1000 and have their winning design produced onto a polo shirt available for purchase throughout the region.
CHRC Mayor, Kerry Hayes, said the competition will highlight all of the talented artists located across the Highlands.
"We have some fantastic local artists across the Central Highlands and this competition is a terrific opportunity to showcase that talent and, as a community, demonstrate our pride in our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture."
Entry for the competition is available at www.centralhighlands.qld.gov.au, and is open from September 7 to 10. All entries will be displayed at the Emerald Art Gallery and regional libraries.
