Sen. Roberts Interview

The coal mining industry has been a cornerstone of the Australian economy for decades.

However, issues of safety for workers have arisen in recent years, with some calling for drastic action to be taken to reduce loss of jobs, injuries, and deaths in mines across Australia.

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party released a statement last week detailing issues casual and contract coal miners face in the Bowen Basin.

However, these issues are not just affecting casual and contract miners in that area, but all over Australia.

“We propose a number of things regarding safety of casual and contract coal miners,” said One Nation Senator, Malcolm Roberts in an interview.

“My awareness of this came about because of a miner in the Hunter Valley approaching us. He’d been to the Labour Party, he’d been to the Greens in New South Wales Parliament, he’d been to the Liberal National Party ministers in New South Wales, now one had helped him. He’d been to the Hunter Valley division of the CFMEU and they wouldn’t help him.

“I want to make it very clear that things in the Hunter Valley are much worse than Central Queensland.
